Spirit-Filled

The poem below was inspired by a sermon. The sermon title is “Self-Powered or Spirit-Filled” by Steve Ramsdell delivered on Sunday 04-28-2013

Jesus had risen
And afterwards seen
Plenty of excitement
Then back to the routine

During the long wait
Patience was needed
For it was a long seven weeks
Before an event was heeded

On the day of Pentecost
There were flames and a strong wind
The Holy Spirit began to descend
Amazement and mystery was unpinned

Now God is with us
And the Spirit leads
Walking in the Spirit
And doing good deeds

The Spirit of God in us
His great power to extend
The Divine presence of God
Is our forever good friend

Dreaming and Hoping
With guidance and might
Taking charge with confidence
Because the Spirit is right

About Mark Shields

Mark works in the Information Systems Department for an Insurance Company. He volunteers as a member of the media ministry team at his church and runs the 10:50 worship service computer. A few years ago, he started an on-line Bible study guide called “This Day with God Devotional”. He uses this as a tool in his journey through the Bible. We live in a very busy world with busy schedules so this tool has helped him continue with daily Bible reading and study. You’re invited to join him on this journey or check in every so often to read his thoughts.
