Let Us Never Forget Their Faces

The faces you see are not just a number
Or a statistic of those fallen in war.
They are our brothers, neighbors
And friends that we should all adore.

Their names are forever
Written in stone.
They died for our freedom
And it is greatness they have shown.

Let us never forget their faces.
Let us never forget their name.
Let us never forget their sacrifice.
Let us hold them in high acclaim.

We forget their faces when
We do not help our fellow neighbor.
We forget their faces when
We do not do our best in labor.

We forget their faces when
We do not go the extra mile.
We forget their faces when
We give up hope and never smile.

Remember their faces today
By being respectful.
Remember their faces today
And never being neglectful.

Remember their faces today
By giving them a nod.
Remember their faces today
By being one nation under God.

About Mark Shields

Mark works in the Information Systems Department for an Insurance Company. He volunteers as a member of the media ministry team at his church and runs the 10:50 worship service computer. A few years ago, he started an on-line Bible study guide called “This Day with God Devotional”. He uses this as a tool in his journey through the Bible. We live in a very busy world with busy schedules so this tool has helped him continue with daily Bible reading and study. You’re invited to join him on this journey or check in every so often to read his thoughts.
