Many will return back to college soon after a Holiday break. I’m reminded of my college days at Sam Houston State University. The University is located in Huntsville Texas about 70 miles north of downtown Houston. It took its name from the Texas hero Sam Houston who made his home in the city and is buried there.
Named after a Texas hero
With Historical roots.
Preparing young people
With noble attributes.
Higher learning place
Making people witty.
Small town attitude
Near the large city.
A friendly atmosphere;
A Stimulating environment;
Responsive to needs;
Providing enlightenment.
Offering a career foundation
For people’s life call.
Preparing them also
To be friendly to all.
Building up many lives;
Making success smoother
As they grow in a career
For a happier future.

This poem is inspired by my memories as a student at Sam Houston State University.
That’s good, Mark. One of my daughters went to Sam. The other is an Aggie.
My brother and two sisters also went to Sam. My niece is an Aggie.
