The Garden

Celebrate Garden Day!

This stunning garden
At Hampton Court in England
Took time to nurture
But so is time required when
Growing our inner garden

This Tanka Poem is inspired by a garden at Hampton Court which is a royal palace near London England. The English take their gardens serious just as all of us should take serious the inner garden of our soul. Taking care so that what is unseen is also beautiful and seen on the outside by our actions.

The Japanese word Tanka translates to “short song” and is a 31 syllable poem broken into five lines. Line 1 (5 syllables) Line 2 (7 syllables) Line 3 (5 syllables) Line 4 (7 syllables) Line 5 (7 syllables).
